Here is my contribution to this week’s Rainbow Snippets.
It is from the same WIP as last week but a little further back in the story.
The Angel and the Magpie is told from both characters’ points of view. Last week it was Toby’s turn. This week it is Raphael’s.
He closed his eyes and tried to sleep. Even without the other things going on in his head he never slept well on nights like this, when the wind howled around his ancient cottage threatening to fly it apart at the seams. Every creak and groan registered in his fitful dreams. Every cracking sound seemed to herald his roof being blown clean off. His body stayed alert to every noise, despite his tiredness.
Suddenly a thump had him sitting upright in his bed. Cottages went creak and groan, and occasionally crack, but they did not often go thump. People stumbling about in a dark, unfamiliar room went thump.
Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction, a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (with no spoilers, please).
